After my dog Alki died in 2014, we talked about missing each other. He said to me that we were a team, and that “because we loved each other, there is more love in the world.”
What a privilege it is to live with animals! Treat them as family, and respect them as animals and as family. Love blossoms in the world.

We can add things to our homes to remind us that intuition and healing are natural abilities, and the world is bigger than our work and home lives. And we can participate in it. Here I show the things I keep to remind me of that, and to keep my space clear: lavender, Himalayan salt lamps, crystals, incense, my animal family’s ashes, things that have meaning for me.

Sometimes things happen—surgery, emergencies, the out-of-ordinary events. We deal with them by balancing what we know: facts, emotions, intellect, and intuition.
We can also remember to thank the center we receive care from: the surgical center, the veterinary clinic, wherever we go. Bless the people helping you, and create a healing circle to support you.

It’s hard to say goodbye to a beloved animal. Here I share a story about a dog who thought he had accidentally killed himself, when he was really dying of cancer. It’s important to tell your dying animals why they are dying, if you have time. It matters.
